Icelandirect operates an NSF GMP for Sport™ registered facility, a designation reserved for manufacturers that meet NSF’s heightened standards for producing supplements intended for athletes. The program builds on NSF GMP Registration, which verifies compliance with FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices (21 CFR Part 111), and adds requirements focused on preventing contamination from banned and prohibited substances. For our clients, this means every product we make is produced in a facility already qualified to support NSF Certified for Sport® product certification.
Maintaining this registration requires passing rigorous on-site audits, which can include unannounced inspections. Auditors review our standard operating procedures, personnel training, sanitation, equipment maintenance, and recall readiness. They also look closely at the controls that matter most for sport products. These include validated equipment cleaning, air handling, and production scheduling that keep sport-sensitive products separated from restricted materials. They also include full lot traceability from the raw material supplier through blending, encapsulation or tableting, and final packaging. Finally, they cover documented supplier qualification, including verification of Certificates of Analysis and identity testing of every incoming ingredient.
