Dried Wild Algae & Kelp Powders
|
Our powders are typically air dried or freeze
dried to 85-95% dry material. In both cases the
drying temperature is below 30°C, preserving the
bioactivity and flavor found in the fresh wild raw
material. The dried powder is delivered in air
sealed bags, stacked on pallets. It can be milled
to grain size <100 μm or in accordance with
customer demand. All the processing plants are
human consumption certified.
Our suppliers use renewable energy from hydro
and geothermal sources to power our plants which
minimizes their carbon emission during drying and
processing. The sustainable harvesting of marine
resources of Iceland is managed by the Icelandic
Marine Institute.
For Icelandirect the product quality is of
paramount importance. Thus we carefully
select our sourcing partners and actively
monitor the quality of raw material entering
their plants. The microbiology and properties
of our products are measured and monitored
on a regular basis.
